Job Purpose and Impact

Managing payroll and employee benefits-related accounting data, and ensuring financial and reporting compliance based on federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Key duties involve maintaining accurate payroll and employee benefits accounting records, conducting balance-sheet reconciliation and analyses, resolving payroll account discrepancies, allocation of employee-related  payments/costs. This role requires collaboration with HR and finance teams and a strong understanding of accounting principles and software systems. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll accounting records for the employees in compliance with US GAAP.
  • Validate payroll inputs into the accounting system such aswages, overtime, bonuses, taxes and deductions.
  • Post payroll-related journal entries to the general ledger and Provide payroll cost analysis
  • Vendor Invoice Allocation: Cost allocation and payments request of employee benefit invoices from 3rd party providers (health, dental, vision, retirement plans, etc.).  and reconciliation with employee payroll - deductions.
  • Reconciliation: Reconcile payroll and benefits GL accounts and vendor invoices against payroll deductions and Payment data. Investigate discrepancies (e.g., missing deductions, incorrect billing). Maintain detailed reconciliation reports for audit and compliance.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Generate payroll reports for Finance and HR teams.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and up-to-date working procedures for internal and external audits.
  • Ensure data integrity and confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in the accounting area with preference of payroll accounting or GL accounting
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and frameworks
  • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel and SAP
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
