Compensation: $24.40–$30.91/hr
The Maintenance Mechanic will perform maintenance and troubleshooting on production or warehouse machinery, generally involving multiple trades, with regular guidance. In this role, you will use maintenance and reliability practices to carry out preventive, predictive, and reactive maintenance to ensure assets are maintained for optimal facility efficiency.
Principal Accountabilities
- Responsible for the disassembly, assembly, and routine maintenance of all sanitation-related equipmentPerforms preventive maintenance on production equipment
- Responds to service calls. In addition, the Mechanical Machine Technician is responsible for ensuring equipment operates properly and must ensure that production starts on time each morning
- Performs welding, fabrication, and equipment modification work as required
- Participates in equipment improvement and replacement projects
- Repairs equipment in the maintenance shop, maintains shop cleanliness, and completes work orders, requisitions, and other related documentation
- Applies maintenance and reliability best practices, with appropriate guidance, to ensure all assets are maintained in good working condition while maximizing the useful life of equipment
- Performs preventive, predictive, and corrective industrial maintenance throughout the facility with limited supervision
- Utilizes knowledge and skills in operating standard maintenance tools, including power tools, basic hand tools, precision maintenance instruments, and preventive maintenance technologies
- Documents completed work and equipment conditions using computerized maintenance management software (CMMS) and regularly collaborates with coworkers and management to support continuous improvement of facility operations
Minimum Qualifications
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
- 18 years or older
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to perform the following physical tasks: bending, squatting, climbing ladders, stooping, lifting up to 50 lbs, kneeling, climbing, standing for long periods
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to work at heights
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of food industry standards (HACCP)
- Ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision
- Demonstrate autonomy, resourcefulness, initiative, and dynamismAbility to work in a team
- Familiar with labeling equipment (Bizerba)
- Familiar with packaging equipment (Omori, Ulma)
- Good communication skills
- Safety-oriented mindset and behavior
