This position is in Cargill’s protein and salt business, where we provide wholesome, high-quality food products to a wide range of customers, from foodservice operators and grocery stores to manufacturers and exporters.
Job Purpose and Impact
The Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory Technician (12 month term) will provide quality assurance and food safety technical support through sampling meat products and supporting other quality control duties.
Key Accountabilities
Conducts inspections of finished products or raw materials to identify trends in defects or errors.
Performs sampling of finished and raw products for E. coli O157:H7
Ensures employees are following Good Handling Practices (GHPs)
Perform titrations of chemicals to ensure interventions are within regulatory limits
Holds product that is not to company specifications
Handle moderately complex clerical, administrative, technical or customer support issues under general supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Minimum Required
High school diploma, secondary education level or equivalent
Minimum of two years of related work experience
Ability to read and interpret documents (safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals).
Strong computer program professional knowledge: Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.
Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada.
Preferred
Experienced in food manufacturing as Quality Control or equivalent experience.
In-depth knowledge of sanitation and manufacturing practices in the assessment of plant hygiene program.
