Job Purpose and Impact

The Global Customs Advisory Lead will perform complex customs activities for all enterprises of Cargill with significant and broad customs knowledge. In this role, you will develop customs solutions and advice and resolve legal disputes and audits by working closely with customs and trade operations and excellence leads in compliance with corporate targets and objectives, and will promote consistency in global use of customs sensitive data.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead management of global customs advisory services for South Asia - India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka for all Cargill enterprises by closely partnering with business unit/functions, global trade operations and compliance, and regional customs advisory leads to set strategy, plan for and design methods that mitigate risks associated with import.

  • Standardize trade compliance processes and data to align with strategies set out by trade technology and strategy lead.

  • Collaborate with regional customs advisory leads, tax managers and other corporate functions to help the global customs advisory leader develop, define and implement global customs strategies and projects.

  • Advise on the development of processes and data requirements for customs/financial/compliance related systems.

  • Conduct complex customs-related research and analysis with minimum supervision and develop technical customs solutions to minimize Cargill's customs liabilities

  • Provide expert thought leadership in your field and work with limited direction, using additional research and interpretation to identify issues or problems. You may provide direction to supporting team members and be a strategic contributor.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of professional customs compliance experience

  • Experience with a Big 4 accounting firm or major law firm and/or multinational company's customs compliance function

  • Competence leading/overseeing high-impact customs compliance advisory tasks

  • Experience with people management and have led a team for atleast 2 years

  • Experience implementing internal controls, risk assessments and internal and external audits

  • Demonstrated customs compliance experience within the food and agricultural products industry including good knowledge of legal framework related to customs valuation, free trade agreement (FTA) origin and customs law

  • Other minimum qualifications may apply

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree or certification in Customs, Law or foreign trade or equivalent experience

  • Knowledge on SAP, global trade services or other customs system experience

  • Professional certification and/or equivalent experience
