Maintenance Technician

This position is in our Ag & Trading enterprise, where we connect producers and users of grains and oilseeds around the globe through origination, trading, processing, and distribution. We also offer a range of farmer services and risk management solutions.
Job Purpose and Impact
Cargill’s soybean crush and refinery based in Seaforth, Liverpool has been operating since 1986. The plants produce high protein soybean meal, soya hulls, crude soya oil and crude tocopherol (vitamin E).
The Maintenance Technician will perform routine maintenance practices, resource management and tools and processes controls to maintain and improve capacity utilization and quality standards realized through reliable operations. In this role, you will execute the work as selected and needed by the production team.
A key part of the role includes hands-on work with rotating equipment, such as replacing bearings, motors, gearboxes, and pumps, as well as performing precise pump alignment. You will also be expected to maintain and troubleshoot belt and chain conveyor systems, ensuring their efficient and safe operation. This position requires a solid technical background and practical experience in maintaining rotating equipment.
Key Accountabilities
• Execute specific equipment maintenance for each asset involved with containing, controlling or safeguarding a high hazard process.
• Maintain the mechanical integrity of new installations and existing systems.
• Implement, monitor and maintain best practices to improve operational effectiveness through continuous improvement and reliability excellence methods and tools.
• Monitor capitalized repair and replacement projects, mitigate risk issues, and removes barriers to ensure completion of milestones within budget.
• Partner with vendors and handle contracts related to asset improvements and new asset project activities.
• Ensure the ongoing mechanical, electrical and structural integrity of plant equipment.
• Responsible for maintaining rotating equipment, including the replacement of bearings, motors, gearboxes, and pumps, pump alignment and maintenance of belt and chain conveyor systems.
• Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
• Secondary education level or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrable related work experience in maintenance and reliability.
Preferred Qualifications
• Welding experience would be considered an advantage.
• Hands on experience with centrifuge equipment is a plus.
• Experience with conveyor systems would be beneficial.
• Fit and turning experience to effectively support Maintenance & Reliability Area Leads in current operations.
