Job Purpose and Impact

The Shipment Execution Specialist is responsible for:

Key Accountabilities

Shipment Planning

  • In consultation with the Transport Manager, determine the best approved carrier for executing certain commodity contract in accordance with the distance covered and the freight rate.  Contact Cargill approved carriers in order to confirm availability and capacity for individual shipments.
  • Coordinate, develop and plan execution strategies to enable cheapest cost to serve.
  • Provides all necessary shipment information to freight carrier. Receive and record confirmation that carrier has accepted each shipment.
  • Liaise with BHC’s on the outturn/delivery of all Cargill Commodities.

Provides updates on shipment planning status to Cargill supply chain as required or requested.

Data/ERP Management

  • Assist support team with sales open orders to ensure orders are closed within 10 days.
  • Raise and distribute Sales Orders ensuring timely and accurate entry of movement orders in Cargill Information system
  • Reporting Metric adherence.
  • Assist Inventory and payments management team to ensure Inventory is reconciled and carriers / suppliers payment terms are met.

Provides information about shipment execution with the Freight Audit and Payment employees in order to help them resolve issues regarding payments, invoices, demurrages.  

Best in Class Execution

  • Establishes strong working relationships with Cargill approved carriers and BHC’s.
  • Follow up with the execution of the shipments. Monitor the status of loading and freight and perform track and trace activities to confirm status of shipment throughout the shipment execution process.
  • Provides timely communication with carrier owners, operators and BHC’s, and maintains daily operational contact with clients and carriers on order/shipment information. 
  • Resolve issues related to the pick-up and delivery of inventory.
  • At all times adhere to Cargill COR policy.
  • Handles and tracks claims coming from both BU’s and carriers in cases of non-compliance with freight contract requirements.
  • Explore and identify areas of improvement and cost reduction through the supply chain.
  • Maximises efficiencies and effectiveness by leveraging relationships with other colleagues and offices, and provides timely information to sales, customer service, operations, management and material handling providers to assist with order/shipment changes to optimise costs and service. 

Using comprehensive knowledge of the transportation and logistics industry, makes recommendations according to that knowledge and past experience to provide business partnership.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree qualifications in Agriculture, Economics or a Business discipline
  • Preferrably a minimum 3 years experience in a Transportation or Forwarder role or Supply Chain Management, desirable
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple priorities and tasks daily
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Competent  with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, Outlook);
  • Intermediate knowledge of transportation & logistic market and carriers, desirable
  • Good understanding of supply chain processes, desirable
  • Good understanding of business functions, focused on cost and budget controls, desirable
  • Systemic approach to problem solving and decision making
  • Ability to set priorities and organize work
  • Strong communication, listening and presentation skills
  • Open to change and continuous improvement focuseds
  • Team oriented mindset
  • To be able to work under pressure and in fast changing environment
