Job Purpose and Impact

The Refrigeration Utility Technician I, will support industrial maintenance on the industrial ammonia systems of the facility with frequent guidance. In this role, you will learn various systems and applications to assist and participate in the ongoing and preventative maintenance of industrial ammonia systems to ensure the meet the environmental requirements.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Completing preventative, predictive, and reactive industrial maintenance throughout the facility while working in a fast-paced environment around raw meat
  • Operating standard maintenance tools such as power tools, basic hand tools, electric tools, etc.
  • Maintaining all aspects of the facility’s industrial ammonia system, including exposure to water treatment chemicals
  • Documenting completed work and the conditions found; utilizing maintenance computer software as necessary
  • Operating forklifts and/or scissor lifts
  • Understanding and adhering to all safety rules and regulations
  • Maintaining a safe and clean work environment
  • Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions in a warm or cool environment, as well as slippery surfaces at varied heights
  • Standing for long periods of time, the use of stairs and ladders, and wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas of the facility
  • Schedule: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Every Other Wednesday from 5:45PM - 6:15AM
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications 

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Ability to understand and communicate in English (verbal/written)
  • Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting safely, with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • Must be able to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions with the use of PPE, which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc.
  • Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above)
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends and holidays with advance notice
  • Basic use of a computer
  • Must have a Certified Assistant Refrigeration Operator (CARO) Certification or be willing to obtain certification within the first year of employment
  • Knowledge of mechanical applications as they relate to pumps and pumping systems including chemical feed systems
  • Willingness to participate on the Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) team, including the ability to wear a respirator

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with SAP or a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Previous industrial ammonia refrigeration experience
  • Process Safety Management (PSM) experience
  • Knowledge of wastewater systems and operations including primary treatment, activated sludge, clarification, disinfection, etc
