Job Purpose and Impact

The Senior packaging R&D specialist will perform work associated with the research and development of engineering methods, theories and principles needed to effectively and cost efficiently produce new products or modify old products. In this role, you will apply engineering techniques to craft, develop and experiment with various materials that are used to build products. You will support parts of complex projects or leads certain projects and will improve and optimize existing methods.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and create packaging development for Japan market and raw meat for export
  • Prepare Artwork, Printed Master both bag and carton and ensuring that packaging products meet customer requirements , schedule and specifications.
  • Understanding of packaging material, functionality , qualification and commercialization of  packaging formats and ability to lead others in these areas.
  • Running trials to check packaging for suitability and  testing for performance under various conditions, try out different materials and designs to get the best solution include drop test.
  • Prepare packaging costing  and also try to reduce the cost of the product packaging for current product
  • Identifying and choosing products from suppliers. Evaluating, selecting and negotiating with suppliers.
  • Managing the short term and long term innovation process for packaging and co-operate with global packaging team.
  • Analyze and determine all standards for packaging lines and ensure compliance to all schedule for processes and develop and maintain all packing orders effectively.
  • Monitor and recommend improvement in processes to increase efficiency of packaging capacity.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Working knowledge of materials science, physics, chemistry, food science, chemical
  • Minimum of 3 years of related work experience in packaging
  • Other minimum qualifications may apply 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Social and communication skills
  • Ability to work expertly and effectively as an individual and in a team environment
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities with large projects extending over a period of time
  • Intermediate computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Package)
  • Previous experience/education with conceptual design and/or optimization of chemical manufacturing processes
  • Experience conducting continuous improvement events such as Kaizen, Six Sigma or Lean processes
  • Familiarity with developing advanced process control strategies
  • Experience with agri-food / biochemical / fermentation processes
