Job Purpose and Impact

  • The Professional, Counterparty Risk job evaluates credit risk for corporations, banks, farmers and sovereigns for the trade and capital market business in the assigned markets to mitigate potential risks and support the organization's financial security. With limited supervision, this job develops an integrated view of risks on counterparties and products and provides both business and fiduciary insights into the business risks of the organization's trade and capital markets.

Key Accountabilities

  • COUNTERPARTY ANALYSIS: Performs financial statement data input and analysis of counterparties including assignment of ratings and written evaluations of counterparty strengths, weaknesses and financial conditions and provides an assessment on repayment ability.
  • COUNTERPARTY RESEARCHING & MONITORING: Conducts stress tests and market research and monitors counterparties and markets in anticipation of potential negative impacts.
  • RISK MANAGEMENT: Partners to develop understanding of trade and capital markets structures and support objective risk related inputs on products as well as recommendations of opportunities for risk mitigation and loss prevention.
  • RISK MONITORING: Supports close communication with transaction management to ensure adequate implementation of risk mitigation and ensure accurate reporting of exposures within approved limits.
  • RISK REPORTING: Prepares and publishes regular risk performance reports, dashboards and key risk indicators for management and board members.
  • PROCESS EXCELLENCE & IMPROVEMENT: Prepares and handles reports, ensuring strong and accurate reporting standards and assists in ad hoc projects to actively seek ideas to improve existing processes and methodologies.
  • BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP: Supports communication with external counterparties including trade and capital markets clients to build and maintain positive relationships, facilitate smooth transactions and ensure mutual understanding and clarity in business dealings.
  • DUE DILIGENCE: Partners with origination, structuring, legal and senior team members to ensure high quality of due diligence on counterparties and responds to queries from internal collaborators.

Qualifications

  • Minimum requirement of 3 years of relevant work experience. Typically reflects 5 years or more of relevant experience.
  • Fluency in English
  • Strong Excel skills. 

Prefered Qualifications

  • Additional languages such as French or Spanish would be beneficial
  • Python skills would be beneficial
