This position is in our Food Enterprise where we are committed to serving food manufacturers, food service customers, and retailers with a complete range of innovative ingredients and branded products. Our portfolio includes poultry, beef, egg, alternative protein, salt, oils, starches, sweeteners, cocoa and chocolate.
Job Purpose and Impact
The Industrial Cleaner is responsible for ensuring a sanitary environment by completing routine cleaning tasks and supporting overall facility cleanliness standards.
Job Type: Full Time
Shift Available: Rotative (Weekends may be required)
Compensation: $23.00 /hr - after probation period $27.06 /hr
Key Accountabilities
- Clean, degrease, and sanitize industrial equipment including conveyors, mixers, motors, machines, and automated systems
- Remove dust, fluids, grease, and residues using approved tools and chemicals.
- Perform scheduled deep‑cleaning during production shutdowns or maintenance windows
- Inspect equipment after cleaning to ensure proper function and safety.
- Sweep, mop, scrub, vacuum, and pressure‑wash production floors, platforms, catwalks, and work areas.
- Clean oil, chemical, and raw‑material spills following safety protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness of storage rooms, waste areas, loading bays, and high‑traffic zones
- Manage waste disposal, including recycling, hazardous waste handling, and material segregation.
- Follow all safety rules, regulations, and company procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada
- Must be 18 years or older
- High School diploma or Equivalent
- Prior experience in cleaning roles
- Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting up to 50lbs., kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above)
- Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc., with the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to understand and communicate in English (verbal/written)
- Ability to work overtime including weekends, holidays, or different shifts with advance notice
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience operating a power floor scrubber
- Certified in fall‑safe procedures and safe‑work‑at‑height practices
