Job Purpose and Impact
Join our Ag & Trading team to build and scale innovative Strategic Pricing applications that drive improved margins, greater market share, increased team efficiency, and a more responsive customer experience.
As a Software Engineer, you will design, develop, and maintain software applications that power these capabilities. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to define requirements, design solutions, and deliver new features aligned with user needs and business goals. In this role, you will also enhance and optimize existing systems for performance and scalability by writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code, as well as troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues. Additionally, you’ll play an active role in code reviews, helping to uphold high engineering standards while sharing knowledge and best practices with the broader development team.
Key Accountabilities
- SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT: Designs and develops high quality software solutions by writing clean, maintainable and efficient codes.
- AUTOMATION: Leads the application of internal software deployment platform, methodologies and tools to automate the deployment process, ensuring smooth and reliable releases.
- COLLABORATION: Partners with cross functional team of product managers, designers and different engineers to gather complex requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.
- TESTING & DEBUGGING: Writes and maintains complex unit tests and integration tests, and performs debugging to maintain the quality and performance of the software.
- CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT: Suggests options for improving the software development and deployment processes, and implements the approved standards to improve efficiency and reliability.
- DOCUMENTATION: Builds and maintains comprehensive documentation for complex software applications, deployment processes and system configurations.
- TECHNICAL SUPPORT: Provides technical support and troubleshooting for complex issues with deployed applications to ensure minimal downtime and fast resolution.
Qualifications
- Minimum requirement of 4 years of relevant work experience. Typically reflects 5 years or more of relevant experience.
- Experience building modern front-end applications using React and TypeScript
- Experience developing scalable back-end services using Spring Boot and/or Python
Preferred:
- Ability to translate UX/UI designs into intuitive user workflows and reusable components
- Experience integrating front-end applications with APIs, including real-time or near-real-time updates (event-driven architectures)
- Comfort working in early-stage product environments—rapid prototyping followed by scaling, testing, performance tuning, and accessibility improvements
- Ability to evolve proof-of-concept (POC) solutions into production-ready services and APIs
- Hands-on experience with asynchronous and event-driven systems (e.g., pub/sub, Kafka, or similar messaging frameworks)
- Strong understanding of building secure, resilient, and observable systems (logging, monitoring, and tracing)
- Experience working with pub/sub messaging systems (Kafka or similar)
- Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Vela, Jenkins) and strong Git/version control practices
- Ability to navigate ambiguity, adapt to evolving architectures, and pivot technologies as needed
- Experience in trading, supply chain, or logistics domains
Compensation Data
This role is not eligible for employer-sponsored work authorization now or in the future. This includes candidates whose work authorization is tied to a student visa, employer-sponsored visa, visa transfer, immigration petition, or other third-party sponsorship arrangement.
The expected salary for this position is $115,000-$155,000. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific location, certifications, education, and level of experience. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. This position is eligible for a discretionary incentive award. The incentive award amount is dependent upon company performance and your personal performance. At Cargill we put people first.
