This position is in Cargill’s agricultural supply chain business. We sit at the heart of the supply chain, partnering with farmers and customers to source, make and deliver essential products.

This position is in Cargill’s Procurement and Transportation Function and sits within the Plant Services Sourcing Team, which manages the strategic sourcing of Facility Services, Maintenance Services, and Technical Services subcategories. 

Job Purpose and Impact

The Senior Plant Services Sourcing Buyer is an experienced procurement professional who will independently manage the end-to-end development and execution of complex multi-business, multi-site sourcing strategies within plant services categories for North America. In this role, you will strategically influence regional stakeholders and manage key suppliers to ensure alignment with category and sourcing priorities. You will play a key role in building and executing category strategies both regionally and, when necessary, globally, in close coordination with the Category Team. Additionally, you will provide guidance and coaching to Associate and Professional Buyers.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop strategies for high-complexity regional sourcing decisions, events, and categories.
  • Execute highly complex sourcing events including but not limited to RFx activities, analysis, contract negotiations, supplier relationship management, and market research.
  • Demonstrate expert-level understanding of Source-to-Contract concepts, including but not limited to sourcing execution, contract management, market and spend data analysis, negotiations, and Supplier Relationship Management.
  • Provide technical expertise in regional spend, stakeholder landscape, and procurement environment.
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers and analyze supplier operations to resolve factors that affect prices and the lowest cost, consistent with quality, reliability and ability to meet required schedules.
  • Drive the implementation of regional and global sourcing decisions.
  • Build strong relationships with key suppliers and business stakeholders. Ensure strong cross-functional communication.
  • Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team that support sourcing activities, including but not limited to technical/scope definition, legal and commercial review, document control, and adherence to Cargill standards for safety, quality, and supplier performance management.
  • Drive business continuity through proactive supply and supplier risk mitigation planning.
  • Oversee market trends for new technology, sourcing requiremtents, and innovation, while driving continuous improvement initiatiaves internally and with suppliers.
  • Up to 15% travel

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of four years of related work experience
  • Microsoft Suite proficiency
  • Confirmed financial, modeling, and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of seven years of related work experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or Engineering
  • Prior sourcing, supplier relationship management, and stakeholder management experience
  • Experience in project management, maintenance, facilities, or construction services
  • Experience with contract negotiations and sourcing in the facilities and plant services categories
  • Experience with data analytics and savings tracking market research and benchmarking experience
